Last week, somehow my eldest turned four! Her birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year and though we originally planned on having a big birthday bash with the whole family, 2020 had other plans. Unable to see most of our family or her friends, I decided we needed to do something a little different and special to celebrate. So apart from trying to understand where on earth the years have gone, I decided to spend my free time last week creating something I knew she would love based on one of her favorite movies – a Frozen winter wonderland tablescape!
The color palette was a no brainer – silvers, whites, and blues all the way. Mercury glass trees (similar set linked) that I’ve collected at Home Goods over the years and blown grass trees that we were given as a wedding present years ago made a great addition to the table to mimic Elsa’s winter forest. The mother of pearl cake stand and silver candle holders (similar set linked) – both also wedding presents! – filled with blue and white tapers lent a little extra color and dimension to the table.
A birthday table for a four year old Frozen lover obviously needs some extra sparkle and shine, and these super budget friendly silver glitter chargers were perfect. For a simple makeshift runner, I used a roll of silver snowflake wrapping paper (similar roll linked) I found from Target. Definitely a trick I’ll use again in the future!
With the December holidays right around the corner, this silver flocked tree was already out so I turned it into our very own Frozen tree complete with Anna and Elsa ornaments. All three of those boxes are filled with costumes – my kiddo seems to have been born for the stage and the whole family knows it!
Last but not least, the CAKE! My daughter is obsessed with dessert (she gets it from her Mama) so a tasty, show stopping sweet treat was a must. I find that fondant cakes just never taste as good, so we are team buttercream in this house. I had an incredibly talented local baker whip up this blue and white ombre snowflake cake and you’ll have to believe me when I say it somehow tasted even better than it looked.
Without a doubt, this was the most fun I ever had putting together a tablescape. More importantly, my daughter was completely surprised and beyond thrilled with her Frozen room and it helped to make an already special day even more magical. I almost didn’t want to take it down, but as a wise woman once said, it was time to “let it go” (had to).
Thanks for stopping by,
