Hello and welcome! My name is Grace, and I’m the face (admittedly, rarely seen) behind Heirloom & Ivy. I’m so glad you stopped by! I am a New Englander – born and raised – and love the history, architecture, and above all else, THE FALL SEASON in this part of the country. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I would consume pumpkin-spiced anything year round if given the opportunity (judge me openly, I am not ashamed)!
After graduating high school, I left the area for 7 years to attend college and then graduate school in Virginia (JMU Duuukes!) where I received training to become a licensed professional counselor. It was there that I met my college sweetheart who would eventually become my husband. We’re back in New England now where we’ve settled down, purchased a home (two actually – we sold our first in 2018), and had two wonderful kiddos together. And though I’ve always loved decorating and design, even in childhood (what 10-year-old’s favorite shows are all on the HGTV network? You’re looking at her), this passion has only grown in adulthood.
Over the years, home decor has become a critical form of self-care for me – a way to exercise creativity, find beauty in the little things, and cultivate peace and calm in the spaces I live in.
Outside of decorating and design, my other passions and interests include:
-Allyship. I am striving to be the best ally I can be to the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities and am committed to a lifetime of learning and introspection as such.
-Hiking. Getting outside and moving in nature always brings me back to baseline.
-Good Eats. Give me ALL the tasty food and drinks please. I can’t say I’m the most talented cook, but boy do I love to enjoy the culinary creations of others!
-Coffee. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be given to me as soon as humanly possible after I open my eyes in the morning.
-Antiques/Thrifted Finds. I LOVE mixing new and older, meaningful pieces in home decor.
So that’s a bit about me for now. Don’t hesitate to drop me a line and say hello, I’d love to connect.
Be well friends,
Grace
